Homeowner Incentive Program
How it Works

GET TO KNOW:

The HIP Process

If you qualify for HIP, you could get reimbursed for projects that improve your property and protect the lake! Often, the project you choose includes landscaping improvements you already had planned or had always wanted to complete.

The process is easy: first, enter your address to see if you qualify. If you do, you’ll be provided with a selection of HIP-eligible projects that could be possible on your property, based on variables such as proximity to the shoreline or the average lot size in your neighborhood. If you like what you see and want to learn more, you can schedule an on-site consultation or register for a workshop. Your site-specific property improvements page will guide you to the resources most appropriate for you, based on project possibilities. If you decide to move forward, we’ll connect you to qualified professionals who, working closely with program staff on your behalf, will make the design and construction process simple and pain-free.  Once your project is complete, your invoices and receipts will be collected and a reimbursement check will be sent directly to you.

Taking advantage of this program is truly a win-win for you and our community.

Our 5-Step Process

here’s How it Works

Our staff experts can help you evaluate your HIP project options. We offer on-site consultations for potentially large or complex projects and expert-led workshops for smaller improvements.

3

Choose your property-improvement project(s)

HIP projects include beautiful native plantings, rain gardens, drainage upgrades, and more. At your request and direction, we can help you turn your ideas into reality.

4

Find the help you need to complete the project

We can connect you to landscape designers and construction contractors that have been trained on the HIP process and HIP-eligible projects.

5

Get reimbursed!

Receive a rebate of up to $1.30 per square foot improved - meaning that your property could qualify for thousands of dollars, or more. HIP funding covers project materials and can be applied to labor in many cases.
